Phoebe Chee has been hailed by SPOT as “one of Singapore’s most promising young sopranos.” She is praised for her “strong and consistent range” with “bursts of ferocity and vocal splendors.” In comedic roles, such as Despina and Susanna, Chee has been described as “sweet and sassy” with a masterful comedic timing, but can equally embody the emotional intensity of a tragic protagonist. 

 

Highlights of recent seasons include multiple world premieres and classics such as Zerlina, Pamina, Lauretta, and Despina. In the last year, Chee has won numerous awards such as the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition as a San Francisco District winner, a Regional Encouragement Award among others.
